The Pizza Party.....the Morning After

May 26, 2011

More Tales from the Diva Files:
The Pizza Party – and the morning after –
The welcome and arrival: Miss Diva was feeling the energy of the spring time, viewing the lush baby green leaves as they revealed their new coats she decided to have a Pizza. This was to honour her friends, Auntie Nina, Toulouse Le Trek and her cousin Pig cat.

Toulouse Le Trek
 Pig Cat
She had just been at the groomers and her coat shone like gleaming a sparkling lake. The Diva was ready to receive her subjects.  The excitement was much like the opening of a premier.
Upon reflection, not until the menu planning was finalized did this invoke the kitten memories of when she was a pregnant mother. The yellow texture of the pineapple, married with the soft sweet ham, made a delightful combination.

Come and Get It!!
The silence was broken for a moment to ‘ding, dong’; her quests had arrived. Toulouse Le Trek the Cool Travelling Cat came with his Auntie Nina.  Pig Cat (her cousin) smiled with a wide –eyed grin as she recognized her friends. Miss Diva ran around the room distracted by the overwhelming aromas.  The table was set, polite chomping filled the air resonating with the classical music in the background.

Heaven Scent

Tummies full and sighs of contentment, glances of smiles were exchanged between Miss Diva and her guests.  It was a lovely evening with the chatter of memories and new ones.   The gentle tick-tock of the clock struck ten, reminded everyone that it was bedtime.  Hugs all around and promises of future gatherings filled her soul with delight.

The morning after:
Diva With A Mission

Miss Diva awakes early feeling a little peckish (is there any more pizza left umm – a good way to tell whether a pizza is really good, is determined by how it tastes cold the next morning.   Ah ha if I sneak into the kitchen where the pizza box is – I should be able to get a morsel. I can do this without waking up the whole house hold?)

Stealthy, she creeps on her belly listening and watching, as she moved toward the kitchen where her reward will be found.  (I will use all detective skills to get what I want …for I am the consummate Diva).   She has squeezes behind the recycling. Plying open the box with her paws, being careful not to wake up her human companion she would be annoyed.  (Oh my, oh, my, I have to have that last morsel ….I will not give up on my mission I will be victorious. The box is standing upright…I wriggle my whiskers…pointing nose into the air …what do I smell….tomato ham and pineapple. There must be something left in the box.  I must stand on my toes, and use my paws to open the box!!

Miss Diva looks back into the hallway, glancing at the slightly open bedroom door where her human companion is ….all is good she is sleeping soundly. She stands on her hind legs stretching upward, grasping with paws on box (a little pressure. Good…good).   In deafening crash, thunk, thunk, came down the box, clanging like Notre Dame Cathedral.  Miss Diva feels the knot in her stomach; much like she does before performing…it goes away when she utters the first few words of a script.
Smack, smack went go her lips, tongue lapping in unison like windscreen wipers. Whiskers hovering in delight, pink tongue capturing the flavours of the night before.  (I am in my element).

She feels the eyes in the back of my head…my intuition doesn’t feel right. (I think I’m being watched)? She hears the movement of feet. It sounds like human footsteps (oh no, oh no, I’m in trouble).

Silence breaks to a sound not of her own diva voice.  Bellowing out in a high pitched commanding voice, “Miss Diva, what on earth are you doing; you have woken the whole household…the kitchen is a complete shambles, who do you think is going to clean it up....hmmmmm?”

She looks up fearing to meet the eyes of her companion.  Their eyes meet for a moment, she reads her companions face, one of anger mixed with tough love.  Her companion uttered one more command.  “Go back to bed while I fix this mess…….we will talk about his later.”

Life is Good in Diva Land
Feeling relieved, Miss Diva retires to her soft cat bed. She hears a muttering of the voice from the kitchen, "this is typical diva behaviour aren’t all of them like this – from one extreme to another."  Humans like to feel they are the boss, however I know differently!

My Favorite Things!

Happy Easter to my fans....we hope you had fun.....................I had the most glorious Easter morning surprise ...as I began to hear the dawn chorus of the birds in the twilight hours, I began to stretch, wash my face and observe my human parent sleeping.  The colours of the sky began to cascade into different hues moving from dark blue, blue with ribbons of warm orange, like a golden light.  It was majestic, like the glow of a fireplace that I remember as a kitten (you get absorbed almost transfixed as you gaze into the wood, wrapping it as if it were a blanket...drifting off into slumber). Oh where was I sorry....yes....the sunrise was brilliant as any fire could be, resplendent as if an artist has painted each brick with gold.  I ran to the living room table (quietly crept on the table as if not to wake the household).  I sat there watching the day unfold.

Easter morning  - nature reveals her splendid gown of colour

Have you wondered what a Diva does with her extra time when she'd not performing.  Well, I'll let you into a secret (if you don't tell).....like most females, we 'talk on the phone', do the 'retail therapy shopping thing with girl friends or simply ponder life or sleep the afternoon away.

There was so much hustle and bustle this Easter weekend, I could hardly contain myself. With extra treats (New Zealand lamb with my favorite veggie asparagus); On Easter Sunday we had a lovely treat, a small AAA hormone free marinated steak with orange segments and sliced ginger (wow it smelt so good)!  I kept running back and forth from the kitchen to the living room (wild eyed excitement, eyes glazed and whisker wiggling from the aromas).  My human companion banished me from the kitchen, so I could only watch from afar.   There was even some Scottish beer on hand - 'hoot mon' it smelt quite good.

New Zealand Lamb with garlic ginger and asparagus

Steak ala Orange, ginger, tomato and salad greens

Cooking is a bit like an orchestra, all the players are in place.... the chef is the conductor .......madly encouraging, putting the food though its paces......suddenly as if by magic......food items to come into play! A crescendo of harmonized aromas.....simmering. Sharing space in a confined location, as if to be suspended in a until the unveiling of a triumphant movement of the announcement 'dinner is ready'.

I dance with glee I can hardly stand it..........................I sit waiting.................purring, .....slightly restless (like a child squirming in their seats).....what will it be ...what will it be.    I can smell the food, wafting in the air, I breath deeply my whiskers moving in anticipation, paws in the 'ready'.  The plate I see coming..............

Chicken Curry with turmeric, mango, fruits and Chefs imagination!
Well, you didn't think I would let you get away with out me performing - did you - did you?.
(Clearing her throat, and practicing her scale, la...la...la...la...la....la...la...)
My rendition of "My Favorite Things"....in this arrangement I've changed the words to fit me, we would like to thank Rogers and Hammerstein, the song reminds me too of my favorite movie 'The Sound of Music".   "Moist food and dry food, boxes and bags,
Places to hide in, paper to chase,
Chicken and lamb chops..... all smothered with herbs,
Seagulls that fly past by my window to tease....these are a 'few' of my favorite things.
When it thunders, when the flight flashes and I'm feeling scared.
I simply look to my parents smile and then ....I....... don't feel so bad".

Is this for me?    I wonder?
Chocolate and vanilla ice-cream, with slivers of
chocolate browning and hints of mango.
Ah ha - a rain drop of ice-cream - that is 'my dish'

Well, when you had such a lovely day eating, relaxing a Diva can only do one thing......
you guested it......................
Easter Dinner..............ah......let me sleep.

Sweet dreams............dear fans..........until next time.

Take care....................until next time............Jenni

Who's The Fairest of Them All

Miss Diva after a shopping trip with her companion parent. We found this lovely Bradex plate
at Good Will. It was stacked on a shelf with 4 others, I kept pointing with my paws..... the look, look mummy ...'my look alike' kitten.
when that didn't work I kept 'meowing, and meowing' until it became a chorus - with people looking at me (blushing as Miss Diva remembers the moment).
I fell in love with this, as it brought back memories of my own childhood, spending hours, like most women,
preening, washing whiskers and paws before going out on that oh so important date!! (smiling at the thought).
It wasn't so long ago that I was that playful kitten, chasing feathers, rolled up pieces of paper and anything that moved - yes even moving feet.  I had to be extra careful not to get tangled up in my moms feet, especially at dinner time, when the wafting cooking of chicken fills my nose with delightful aromas.
Well, I hope there is chicken in the menu tonight --- well, maybe F I S H~!

We did some research on the internet when we got home. What we found was this.
The Cat Fanciers Federation Inc, endorsed this pate (of many) in 1919 "to promote the welfare and betterment of the cat"
Crafted by W.F. George in 1992
This plate is entitle "Who's The Fairest of Them All" by Frank Paton, first issue in the Victorian Cat Capers
featuring romantic cats in Victorian settings.

Hello, do you like my new crocs?  Well, now that my parent is out of the room, I decided to find my favorite
spot and curl up behind the printer (sush - that's a secret).   I love shoes of any kind, and like now, I've always slept in
my companions shoes, slippers even sandals.  Well, I have always like to be different and show my unique character - as most Diva's do~~!!  I'm sure you have your own tastes in style...like me?

Mummy, please TURN THE CAMERA OFF, i'm a DIVA don't you know??
Can't you see i'm trying to sleep and have 40 w i n k s?  I'm trying settle into these crocs
to get the right feel. Who said they have to be worn on the feet, I think they make terrific pillows.
Want to try them - go on~

Oh, it's been a sleepy day, even my mummy (parent companion) had a good
day of snoozing. I guess we just needed it. We had our fill of Hot Cross Buns
with orange lemon marmalade - slightly warmed to bring out the flavor.
Plenty of coffee to wash it all down.........well, I'd love to hear from you
with your comments and own reflections of your childhood memories -- for now...(yawning and purring in contentment ......
To my adoring fans, known and those awaiting to be discovered... {Waving with right paw and smiling }as she drifts into 'snoozing cat land'.   ciao baby-- until the next ........"Jennies Jotting the Diva File"....

Oh yes, "Happy Easter"...hope you get lots of fish and chicken....for my human friends....
refined dark chocolate as I understand that is the very best".
